Summer is here and the days are perfect for spending time outside. The Nature Reserve staff share our favorite summertime outdoor activities.

During the Summer, I love to explore new places, preferably on foot. This year we’re off to do the Cotswold Walk in my home country of England.

My favorite summer activity is camping with my family. Technically, camping is my favorite activity in any season, but our yearly summer trip to Sue-Meg State Park, and Redwood National and State Parks, is a highlight of each summer. My ideal summer day is spent watching my kids discover the wonders of a forest floor or playing with them on an agate covered beach surrounded by towering redwoods.

My family enjoys having sunset picnics at the beach.  At least once a week in the summer, we pack up dinner and spend the evening at the beach.

Sydnie

My favorite summer activities include camping and hiking with my dog and husband. We also love taking family road trips to explore Southern California and the surrounding area.

My family’s favorite summer activity is boating. We love taking our boat to St. Vincente Reservoir in San Diego on the weekends.

Bonnie

My favorite summer day is at the beach with my family, playing in the waves and digging in the sand all day. Then, we love to watch the sunset and have a bonfire after dark where we roast hot dogs and s’mores.

My favorite summer activity would be going to a local field and playing baseball with my two boys (10 and 13 years old) or wine tasting in Temecula with Claudia.

We love going to the pool. The kids are improving their swimming skills.
